Ipe (Tabebuia impetiginosa)
Heartwood can vary in colour from reddish brown, to a more yellowish olive brown or darker blackish brown; sometimes with contrasting darker brown/black stripes. Ipe has a fine to medium texture, with the grain varying from straight to irregular or interlocked. Moderate natural lustre. Ipe is very dense and difficult to machine.

Heartwood varies from a light orangish brown to a darker reddish brown, sometimes with contrasting darker grayish brown streaks. Colour tends darken upon exposure to light. Sapwood is a light grayish yellow, clearly demarcated from the heartwood. Jatoba has a good natural lustre

Heartwood is a medium to dark reddish brown. Color tends to darken with age. Pale yellow sapwood is clearly differentiated from the heartwood, though not always sharply demarcated. Massaranduba has a low natural lustre
Muiracatiara (Astronium lecointei)
Commonly known as Tigerwood, it is pale brown to yellow brown in colour with random, erratic stripes of dark reddish brown to black.
